About the Panel

The Takeovers Panel is pleased to announce the appointment of Stephanie Charles to the Panel commencing on 13 August 2024. Ms Charles is a member of the Australian Takeovers Panel and has been cross-appointed to the New Zealand Panel under reciprocal arrangements with the Australian Panel.

Panel Chair, Carl Blanchard, who is also a member of the Australian Panel under the same arrangements, welcomed the appointment, “Ms Charles will bring a wealth of expertise to her role with the New Zealand Panel. Her extensive experience in investment aspects of public mergers and acquisitions will be a real asset to the Panel. The cross-appointment arrangements with the Australian Panel will continue to enhance trans-Tasman co-operation, assist in the harmonisation of regulatory frameworks and facilitate the strengthening of business relationships in both countries.”

Ms Charles is a Deal Partner and Head of Capital Markets at BGH Capital. Prior to joining BGH, she was a Managing Director in the investment banking division at Credit Suisse, based in Melbourne. Ms Charles spent nearly fourteen years at Credit Suisse and was Head of Retail, Consumer, Healthcare and Chemicals for Australia. During her time at Credit Suisse, Ms Charles advised on over A$10 billion of capital markets assignments and over A$10 billion in M&A transactions.

Ms Charles is a Director of Navitas, Village Roadshow, Laurent and Hazeldenes. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) and a Bachelor of Law from the University of Melbourne (Honours).
